Our mission is to advance education in the digital economy in African society and provide access to Internet resources for the general public. We offer many web-related services, including eCommerce, DNS businesses, mobile applications, and digital marketing services.

Our purpose-driven approach includes CSR programs, such as sponsoring tech boot camps through our DCA Academy – a DCA Trust program – for interns and running a seed-fund impact award for women-led organizations in STEM fields throughout Africa.  The seed fund is part of the Miss.Africa Digital program is a gender-focused initiative targeting African female youth audiences. As a Social Impact Specialist, you will collaborate with other teams to contribute to community engagement programs, resource mobilization efforts, development of external communication resources, and oversight of grant projects.

Responsibilities

  • Developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Displaying adherence to the organization’s mission..
  • Assisting with the execution of the research and development department’s strategy.
  • coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the Community Engagement Program and providing operational support to ensure program objectives are achieved.
  • Researching and identifying grant funding opportunities.
  • Identifying support agencies.
  • Writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals.
  • Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents.
    • Collaborating with Executive Director and Project Manager to send funders newsletters and promotional emails.
    • Collaborating with the Project Manager to compile an annual report.
    • Maintaining records in hard copies and computer databases.
    • Designing grant programs.
    • Determining funding needs.
    • Managing timelines and deliverables.
    • Preparing and monitoring budgets.
    • Enhancing funding models, identifying new funding sources, and developing sustainable and effective grant programs.

What are we looking for?

  • A BA degree in international development, social science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the design and proposal writing of development initiatives for developing countries (focus in Africa particularly)
  • Experience in writing successful proposals to institutions and foundations
  • Budgeting and accounting experience
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and competing demands. 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. 
  • Strong writing and editing skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a diverse team environment. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to navigate complexities and build partnerships with donors and global program staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful grant applications, particularly institutions and foundations
  • Experience in working on projects that target women and girls is preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
