As we step into the final months of 2020, it’s proven to be a special month and a special time to be a woman in Africa.

Let’s be honest, women have been winning a lot lately!

However, not everyone has been riding on this high wave. There is a lot more untapped potential, uncharted waters and unfulfilled dreams because of the elephant in the room: Imposter Syndrome.

Imposter syndrome can be defined as a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success.

Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o recently addressed a crowd of over 10,000 women in Boston, recounting the emotional ups and downs of her career leading up to her 2013 feature debut in 12 Years a Slave.

She admitted to battling the fear of failure onset, despite being an exemplary actress, “without the possibility of being bad at something, you will never be extraordinary,” Lupita said.

Just like Lupita, your dreams may be so improbable but don’t let Imposter Syndrome hold you back hun!

Ruth Zaipuna appointed CEO of Tanzania’s NMB Bank

NMB Bank Tanzania appointed Ruth Zaipuna as its Chief Executive Officer. She has been serving the bank as the acting CEO since October 2019. Her appointment was announced by Bank’s board chairman Dr Edwin Mhede.

Ms Zaipuna has made significant contributions to strategy, governance, cost efficiency and overall leadership of the bank. She has been instrumental during the transition period and a key player in the growing realization of NMB
